Are these staxi® chairs sold for personal use?
staxi chairs were designed specifically for institutional use only, for example hospitals, airports etc, where issues such as safety, wheelchair theft and missing parts are a great concern. staxi chairs are specifically designed not to fold and the patient seated in the chair cannot push themselves. Therefore we only offer staxi® chairs for institutional use.
How many staxi® chairs does a hospital need?
Although there is no minimum purchase required, our recommendation to adequately meet a facility’s patient transport needs is, 1 staxi® chair for every 5 beds. Thus, a medium sized 500-bed facility would need 100 staxi® chairs.
What is the difference between the regular staxi® and the staxi® max?
The standard staxi® has a maximum weight of 500 lbs and the bariatric staxi® has a maximum weight capacity of 1,000 lbs.
What are the specifications for the cushion?
The cushion is made with Recovery 5TM fabric and is designed for applications such as hospitals where a stretch and flexibility can help reduce interface pressure. For the benefit of infection control, Recovery 5TM, is “antimicrobial” treated. It is also fire retardant and complies with California Code 117.
How do I clean the staxi® cushion?
Any hospital approved cleaner works fine! Do not use alcohol cleaners on the cushions.

How do I clean the staxi® chairs?
If you currently place your conventional wheelchairs through a high-pressure washer, then staxi® chairs can be cleaned the same way.

Why are staxi® chairs so hard to steal?
People don’t steal staxi® chairs because they do not fold and thus cannot be placed into the trunk of a car. They are also not self-propelled. staxi® chairs cannot be used like a conventional wheelchair, so there is no desire to steal one!
How do staxi® chairs save space?
staxi® chairs nest together like airport or grocery carts. Thus, they will use 1/3 of the space compared to conventional wheelchairs.
Are staxi®chairs easy to use?
Yes, staxi® chairs have a fail-safe automatic braking system. You no longer have to worry about forgetting to engage the brake! They are also designed so that a smaller person has no problems pushing a much larger patient. Try it and see!! staxi® chairs will also turn on their own circumference and are highly maneuverable.
How can I ensure my staxi® chairs are returned so new patients entering the facility have them available?
We have coin return mechanisms available which ensure staxi® chairs are brought back to the nearest staxi® site. Ask us for more details!!
How can I keep my staxi® chairs organized and what are staxi® stands?
staxi stands create central locations to house staxi® chairs and provide a place to pick-up, drop off and store the chairs. They also do a great job keeping main entrances tidy.
What are colors are available for my staxi® chairs?
staxi® chairs are available in blue, red, silver and diamond-black.
How can I identify my staxi® chairs as hospital property or by department?
We carry custom nameplates which are affixed to the back of each staxi® chair. Here you can place your hospital’s logo and/or any text of your choice. We provide you with a proof before we print!
Are oxygen tank holders, elevating leg rests and IV poles available?
YES!!!
How do I enter the staxi® chair?
We recommend entering the staxi chair from the side by lifting one armrest. That way, there’s no bending. It’s much easier for the person assisting the patient and it’s easier for the patient too
