Are these staxi chairs sold for personal use?
staxi® was designed specifically for institutional use only, for example hospitals, airports etc, where issues such as safety, wheelchair theft and missing parts are a great concern. staxi® is specifically designed not to fold and the patient seated in the chair cannot push themselves. Therefore we only offer staxi® for institutional use.
What is unique about the staxi wheelchair?
Manual wheelchair manufacturer, staxi®, makes the most innovative wheelchairs and accessories in the industry today - ideal as an airport wheelchair, stackable wheelchair, hospital wheelchair for patient transportation, and wheelchair rentals for shopping malls.
Are your staxi wheelchairs ergonomically correct?
Our wheelchairs are ergonomically correct. In fact, that is one of the top priorities in the design of our manual wheelchairs that serve a wide range of purposes - stackable wheelchairs, nesting wheelchairs, commercial wheelchairs, industrial wheelchairs, institutional wheelchairs, hospital wheelchairs, coin return wheelchairs, and wheelchair rentals for airports and shopping malls.
What wheelchair accessories does staxi offer?
Manual wheelchair accessories available through staxi® - one of the world's leading wheelchair manufacturers - include a wide range of options for our weather resistant stacking wheelchairs, nesting wheelchairs, airport wheelchairs, hospital wheelchairs for patient transportation and wheelchair rentals for shopping malls.
Where can the staxi manual wheelchair be used?
Our manual wheelchair can be used anywhere frequented by patrons or patients. The staxi® heavy duty wheelchair is an all-purpose nesting wheelchair design ideal as a stackable rental wheelchair, coin return wheelchair, airport wheelchair, pediatric wheelchair or hospital wheelchair for patient transportation.
Is the staxi safe enough for hospital patient transportation?
Hospital patient transportation is critical, requiring the safest of patient transporter solutions, and our manual wheelchair is most certainly among them. So although this stackable wheelchair is popular as an airport wheelchair and for wheelchair rentals in shopping malls, the staxi® is the ideal way to transport a patient in a wheelchair, and safe enough as a pediatric wheelchair as well.
How does the staxi make transporting patients easier?
Transporting patients can be challenging, as the typical hospital wheelchair lacks smart design. The staxi® manual wheelchair is different, making patient transportation easier and safer too. Durable, heavy duty and weather resistant, the staxi® is ideal as an institutional wheelchair, industrial wheelchair, commercial wheelchair, pediatric wheelchair, airport wheelchair and as wheelchair rentals in shopping malls.
Why is the staxi ideal as a hospital wheelchair?
Our hospital wheelchair is ideal for patient transportation. In fact, the staxi® manual wheelchair is what you might call a heavy duty "wheelchair alternative" to outdated designs of the past. From an airport wheelchair to pediatric wheelchairs to wheelchair rentals for shopping malls, these stackable wheelchairs - or "nesting wheelchairs" - come with considerable benefits.
What makes your stackable wheelchairs theft-resistant?
Stackable wheelchairs are susceptible to theft, so the staxi® manual wheelchair incorporates theft-resistant features into the design of our hospital wheelchair, airport wheelchair, pediatric wheelchairs and wheelchair rentals at shopping malls. Stacking wheelchairs - or "nesting wheelchairs" - have too many benefits for the possibility of theft to deter the use of this heavy duty wheelchair and its wheelchair accessories.
Why is the staxi ideal as a manual wheelchair rental?
Manual wheelchair rentals are essential to so many people who have mobility needs, yet those needs are often unmet because the only rental wheelchairs available are not user friendly. They're hard to push, they're uncomfortable or they're falling apart. That's why staxi® takes such pride in our heavy duty wheelchair options - weather resistant wheelchair designs ideal as a commercial wheelchair, industrial wheelchair or airport wheelchair. The same may be said of the staxi® as a hospital wheelchair too.
Why is the staxi ideal as an airport wheelchair?
Airport wheelchairs should be as durable as they are easy to use. Unfortunately, that is rarely the case - unless it's a staxi® heavy duty wheelchair. This innovative manual wheelchair design is ideal as a stackable wheelchair, or "nesting wheelchair," in just about any capacity - a weather resistant wheelchair also perfect for use as a hospital wheelchair, pediatric wheelchair, rental wheelchair, coin return wheelchair and more.
Why are staxis rarely stolen?
staxi® chairs are not attractive targets of theft because they cannot be self-propelled, cannot be collapsed and are conspicuous. They are more easily pushed than wheelchairs and have a large under-seat storage for luggage or purchases. staxi® chairs stay put when attendants don't - dual brakes instantly engage if the attendant releases their grip.
"... these chairs are virtually theft-proof for a number of reasons...and when staff can choose between a staxi® or a wheelchair, they choose a staxi® every time."
Why do staxi® chairs require less time being gathered than wheelchairs?
staxi® chairs seem to "return to their nest all by themselves". If fitted with grocery-buggy style coin operated systems at their visually appealing, modern looking and highly visible “staxi® Stands,” this option reduces abandonment and the gathering effort. Three to 13-unit staxi® Stands are available.
Even without the stand, each nested staxi® requires only 11 inches of floor space!
"The staxi® wheelchair has been a super addition to the Atlanta Delta operation. It is very safe and reliable...staxi® has bent over backwards to make us happy"
How much space does a series of nested staxi® chairs require?
When nested, a staxi® consumes a mere 11 inches of floor space and the
staxi coin return option reduces gathering effort and clutter.
What makes a staxi® construction better than a wheelchair?
The bent steel frame has a fewer number of welds/breakage points and the components are of the highest quality. Also, we use automotive grade paint. The arm and footrests swivel but are not removable.
How is getting in and out of a staxi® different than a wheelchair?
The passenger approaches the staxi® from either side with the nearest armrest tilted upwards, sits down, rotates their legs into a forward position and reclines comfortably into the ergonomic seat. The armrest is then lowered and the brakes cannot disengage until the attendant is in position. This process is particularly expedient for car transfers.
Can a staxi® carry more weight than a wheelchair?
staxis are TOUGH - 500 and 1,000-pound capacity models
staxis are FUN - cushions can feature color printing, frames are available in 4 colors and custom nameplates are available
Is the experience of riding in a staxi different than riding in a wheelchair?
staxi® chairs encourage outings whereas wheelchairs discourage them. With a higher seating position than a traditional wheelchair, a staxi encourages more pleasant human contact. Additionally, a modern staxi® does not look as "ominous" as a traditional wheelchair. This suggests that the passenger's mobility challenge is potentially temporary and this in turn also encourages more relaxed communication with strangers.
The passenger feels secure knowing that the dual interconnected brakes will instantly engage if the attendant lets go, takes pleasure from the fact that their attendant can more easily push and turn their staxi® than a wheelchair, and feels helpful for having chosen a transport device with a storage area that can be shared.
Since the armrests hinge upwards, a staxi passenger can be moved right up to a restaurant or meeting table beside everybody else.
What is the purpose of the "failsafe" braking method and how is it different than a wheelchair?
Failsafe dual brakes (both engage instantly when the attendant lets go) make staxis the safest transport method for outdoor pathways of varying elevation (not to mention their weather resistance.) For the same reason, airports and airlines discover that staxis are safer than wheelchairs on ramps generally, but even more so while reversing downhill, with the attendant walking backwards. staxis strong anti-tip bars were added specifically for this purpose.
What helpful accessories can be added to staxi®?
Primarily through word of mouth, thousands of facilities in North America and Europe use staxi® stackable wheelchairs as a patient transport option; sometimes positioning it as a "rentable wheelchair." staxi® chairs are the leading choice for non-self-propelled use and accessories such as seat belts and holders for intravenous poles, oxygen tanks and infusion pumps are available.
Facilities benefit by designating a certain color of staxi® for each department.
How does a staxi® actually promote visits to a facility?
staxi® chairs' slightly reclined seats make them more comfortable for extended use than common wheelchairs. Because visitors of nursing homes are often elderly themselves, they are encouraged by the fact that the brakes will be automatically applied if they accidentally release their grip. This promotes active visitations and visiting is meant to be fun!
"...the staxi® is unbelievably easy to use and maneuver. Thank you for such a great product. It has made our appointments less stressful."
